Frequently Asked Questions

I am new to this, how does it work?

We specialized in helping clients that are new to therapy process. It’s intimidating to meet with a complete stranger and talk about what is happening in your life. Each new client can request to meet and have a dialogue with us at no cost informally and determine if the services that we provide meet your needs

Do you offer telehealth and is it secure?

We offer primarily telehealth services to clients who are not able to meet us in our offices. Although, we are not face to face, we will try hard to create a supportive space that is secure, confidential and interactive using audio/video system to discuss your goals.

Can I schedule to meet in person?

We have limited in person weekend appointments available our office in Belmont, with easy access by MBTA bus. Contact us and let us know your preference.

How often should I schedule to meet?

It’s a personal decision that depends on your goal, which we will discuss at the first meeting. Most clients start by meeting weekly and go from there.

What is the difference between paying out of pocket versus insurance for therapy?

The difference is freedom in treatment. Clients that pay out of pocket have complete control the focus, style, duration, frequency and length of their therapy sessions. Therapy with BennuCare is a health service. This means you can use your flexible spending account (FSA) or health savings account (HSA) credit or debit card to pay counseling services with us.There is also the out-of-Network benefits services with your insurance if you have a PPO. You are allowed to have a portion of each session reimbursed after you meet your deductible. We can provide you with a good faith estimate if you are interested in this option. When you pay with insurance, we will have to provide a diagnosis in order for your health insurance to approve coverage. This diagnosis will be recorded on your health records.

Your health insurance also monitors your treatment progress and decide how many sessions will be covered, and ask us for justification, if you choose to extend your treatment. Sometimes, a treatment may seem necessary for you and your therapist, but might not be considered necessary by your health insurance.

What are your consultation services?

  • Our consultation services offer support for those who may not need the level of support that individual therapy offers. Consultation and coaching services does not have a diagnosis and are a great fit to meet those short-term goals. Those might include:
  • Career goal Setting
  • Communication skills
  • Test anxiety or failing exams
  • Life Skills
  • Motivation
  • Life and family transitioning skills
